Mount Lyell is located between the Merced and Tuolumne Rivers, two impressive Sierra rivers. It carries the honorary title of the highest peak in Yosemite National Park and towers above Lyell Glacier, one of the largest in the entire Sierra Nevada. The peak provides several summiting routes, which go through either over or around Lyell Glacier, which rate Class 2-3 when the snow level is high and Class 3-4 when the snow is low.
