St. Mary Visitor Center is one of the three main visitor centers in Glacier National Park and is the park's easternmost center. The friendly staff will give you advice about hiking and other activities within the park, explain existing rules and regulations, and help with any other issues and concerns. Also, you can obtain various entrance passes here, as well as books, brochures, maps, and souvenirs.

How to get there?

St. Mary Visitor Center is just inside the St. Mary Entrance Station on Going-to-the-Sun Road. You can take Highway 89 through the Blackfeet Nation Reservation to get there.

Operating hours:

Daily, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.


During spring the hours are slightly shortened to 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

Season

The visitor center operates from late May to early October, and is closed outside of that time period.

Rules and Regulations
  • Saint Mary (until the Going-to-the-Sun Road is fully open) Entrance requires a park pass only. Visitors who enter the park on foot or bicycle do not need this entrance ticket, though Park Entrance Passes may be necessary.
  • Fees are charged and non-refundable.
  • Pets are not allowed in any buildings.

Facilities and Services

St. Mary Visitor Center offers information about tourism, astronomy programs, interactive exhibits, and ranger-led activities. It houses an auditorium and a bookstore.


It also offers Indigenous People's programming and exhibitions, and hosts Native America Speaks events.


The center has basic amenities like a parking area, restrooms, water fountains, Wi-Fi, and a Glacier Shuttle Stop. Saint Mary Campground sits next to the visitor center.
