Extensive Road Closures through 8/30/2023

39 roads in Sierra National Forest are currently closed to through traffic due to damage caused by past fires and the historic winter 2022-2023 season. This may impact access; seek alternate routes if possible. Forest Service officials have provided a list and a map outlining these closures, which are projected to last until 8/2/2023. For more information, please read Forest Order 05-15-00-23-18 and keep an eye on Sierra National Forest's Alerts & Notices page.

Banner Peak

Peak12,863 ft37.6966, -119.19514

Being the second highest summit in the Ritter Range, some refer to the peak as one of the most graphic in the whole Sierra. It is most picturesque if viewed from the northeast as if it floats on the calm waters of Thousand Island Lake. The peak's easiest 2-class ascent may be done from the saddle of the Ritter-Banner on the southwest slope.
