Meeks Creek to Rubicon Lake Trail is a wonderful outback trip into Desolation Wilderness that features six lakes - Genevieve, Crag, Shadow, Hidden, Stony Ridge, and Rubicon. It is also the beginning of the famous Tahoe-Yosemite Trail (which connects Lake Tahoe's Meeks Bay with Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park). You'll hike along beautiful Meeks Creek through pristine old-growth forests and meadows. You can also enjoy an array of scenic peaks and Lake Tahoe views along your trip. If you're early enough in the hiking season you'll have the chance to see red snow plants, which are quite rare and protected by law, so please, leave them for all to see!

The entire way to Rubicon Lake is a steady uphill, so the elevation gain will add a challenge to your hike.
